Staying busy during lockdown
For the past twelve weeks, we have been doing the jobs that always get put off. Usually we only have the week of Christmas on close down so we never get the chance to take something completely apart to make something new again. However this lock down time has given us chance to do more, while doing these jobs in the nice weather.
So, we have focused on repairs, revamped the restaurant and updated the website. All feel completely satisfying and can’t wait to welcome guests again to enjoy the house and gardens.

Our Real Weddings – Chris and Layla – A Persian/Welsh Wedding
Let’s start with the introductions, tell us about you and your husband? Where did you meet? Tell us about the proposal?
Myself and Chris used to go to St Mary’s primary school together in Carmarthen, we started dating when I was 20 and Chris was 23. The proposal was amazing! My father had locked Chris in the living room with him to ask him about his intentions of marrying me, poor Chris was grilled for a long time. Chris and dad had a plan they made together, unfortunately my dad passed away the following year so Chris could not carry out their plan. However a year from the date that my dad passed away Chris took me to Portugal to take my mind off things , the last thing on my mind was an engagement! We went exploring little beaches and found a restaurant on the sand, it was there Chris asked me if I wanted to go for a walk on the beach after lunch and that’s where he proposed, a sad memory linked with an amazing memory xxx
Tell us about your wedding planning, how long were you planning for?
I was planning for two years, we went to meet Sian and Jo at Broadway quite a while before the wedding date, it was an amazing experience. It was going to be the first Persian wedding Broadway had ever done, we worked closely with the chefs who recreated authentic Persian cuisine and Sian was like my rock throughout the planning. x
Did you have a theme for your day mapped out?
Yes with me being half Persian and Chris Welsh we thought about bringing both values into our wedding. The wedding was bright and colourful following my background with bright pinks oranges and jade. We had the venue covered with lanterns from top to bottom. The Wedding Breakfast food was amazing, using locally sourced produce we had a very British Wedding Breakfast menu followed by an exciting Persian buffet prepared by Chris and his chefs for the evening.
Tell us about how you used our venue?
We had our wedding and party all at Broadway, the service was amazing, it was planned to be outside but with our unpredictable Welsh weather it did start raining at 12 so was moved into one of the rooms in the mansion, this didn’t matter at all it was perfect. We had about 120 in the day and 150 in the night it was perfect, from big booming hip hop dance floor to small quieter areas for the oldies. We had hired the complete venue all weekend which made it extra special. This meant that immediate family and bridesmaids could stay. However I went to another wedding at Broadway six months ago and they now have super posh pods for additional guest, a good excuse to throw another big party there.
What entertainment did you have?
We had a yoghurt cart with various toppings some being persian, a photo booth which was lots of fun and a LED dance floor with Leighton Brookfields as a DJ all supplied by Ultrabooth.
What was your favourite part of the day?
I was eight months pregnant getting married and I did not leave the dance floor from when the music came on until it finished.
What advice would you give any brides to be?
Relax and chill, when I first started to plan I wanted everything perfect down to the last detail. We found out we were lucky enough to be having a baby a few months before the wedding (I had been trying for ten years) from that moment I just put the baby first and my health and everything turned out perfect.
